Nursery and Preschools

Christ Church Clifton Pre School

The Crypt, Christ Church, St Brendas Court, Clifton Park, Bristol BS8 3BN, UK – 0117 325 1214

My twin girls were at Christ Church Preschool for two years until July 2015. They thrived in the warm, loving and supportive environment. I watched with joy as they would run into play; their speaking developed, their social interaction skills grew and they became confident little people. The team are wonderful and all work so hard. The recently added new red toilets, the garden at the back and the weekly forest school adventures all added to the fun. I cannot recommend the preschool more highly.

We moved from Cornwall to Clifton in April 2014 and the team at Christchurch Preschool provided so much support and community spirit in helping us settle in. They managed to accommodate our twin girls and the girls were so happy in their learning and playing. They quickly made new friends and the move was made so much easier thanks to the wonderful nurturing nature of the staff. The forest school sessions were a great asset to the preschool and with its own little garden the staff make the setting a fun and happy place to be.

Mama Bear's Day Nursery and Pre-school, Oakfield Road, Clifton

17 Oakfield Rd, Bristol BS8 2AW, UK – 0117 974 2929

Our little boy attends Mama Bears Oakfield Road and we couldn't be happier with this nursery. The team are fantastic, very caring and nurturing, imaginative and huge fans of messy play (which is great as a parent who does not enjoy messy play at home). The nursery offers wonderful outdoor space which they use all year round, a ball pool room, sensory spaces as well as individual rooms for different age groups. Our son has flourished in this environment and loves being part of this nursery community.

My daughter likes a lot this place because she met quite a lot new friends. The staff is polite and gentle with the kids and during the week I feel safe about my little princess. When I pick her after work she has hard time leaving. And if you could have seen her in the beginning - she was crying not to leave her there! Definitely a child friendly place.

Couldn't have asked for a better school / team of people! So accommodating, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Very efficient staffing from nursery helpers right through to the head teacher, they have helped our child thrive! Couldn't give enough stars! Will be missed when our son moves on.

A really great nursery school. Everyone really works hard to give your child the best possible start to their school life. Friendly and creative with a wonderful garden as well.

St Bernadette Catholic Secondary School

Fossedale Avenue, Bristol BS14 9LS, UK – 0117 377 2050

Definitely enjoyed my time here especially in years 10 and 11 (2015-2017) and the GCSE's were so much fun! The Library is the place to be at break and lunchtime where you can feel free to play games on the computers. Try to get a chair other than the small blue ones maybe the black chairs or bigger blue ones. I unfortunately don't know what the food tastes like as I never had any but as I started to advance through from year 7 to 11 the waiting line for snacks seemed to get lower and lower. The teaching is good however if I was in a different math class with an actually good teacher I would not have to be retaking. As a result of some poor teaching in certain classes the students refuse to do any work and act in a stupid manner. The grounds are pretty disgusting however especially on the higher year's fields. We even had to have a 'litter clean up week' to sort it out. The charity week in year 9 was pretty enjoyable and successful too. Year 11 was an amazing year, whilst year 8 was the worst.

I think it is pretty great for some of the pupils they have to deal with. Disabled and SEN kids are always welcome there, even when it is too much for the staff. It takes on students from every where in Bristol, but seems to get nothing for it. They let in a lot of students that other schools would not because they are extremely optimistic. Love it.

It’s a great school I love most of my teachers but some students can be rude and mean but the school is trying their hardest to change that 😁

Cleve House School

254 Wells Rd, Bristol BS4 2PN, UK – 0117 977 7218

Cleve House School has been the ‘hidden gem’ of South Bristol for too long. Now under new management, this school energetically thrusts forward with creative flair and a new vision. It remains true to its core values of traditional education in the 3R’s and providing each pupil with a sound moral backbone. The pupils delight in a host of extra-curricular activities and a newly formed PTA is actively hosting and organising events for all. The warm family feel this school emits is truly unique and children build happy memories that go well beyond the school gates.

Thank you Cleve House, for giving two generations of my family a wonderful start in life. I will always remember the whole school sitting on and around the main entrance hall stairs for our assemblies and feeling extremely proud wearing my duffle coat! Mrs Lowe, my music teacher was fantastic and she helped me gain a real love of music!

Queen Elizabeth's Hospital

Berkeley Pl, Bristol BS8 1JX, UK – 0117 930 3040

Great private school situated in Clifton, although it's sports facilities are away in Failland. Achieves good A-level and GCSE results too

Spent 5 years here as a boarder, it was great - hash browns weren't bad for breakfast either.
